Your Metrin System Is the Daily Foundation. APS Provides Periodic Accelerated Treatment When Your Skin Needs More.
A good skincare routine should make caring for your skin feel clearer—not more complicated.
Your regular Metrin Skincare System provides the foundation of consistent daily care.
Then there are times when your skin may look a little duller, rougher, more uneven, or simply in need of some additional attention.
That is where the Metrin Accelerated Performance System, or APS, comes in.
APS isn't another routine meant to replace what you already do.
It is a two-step periodic treatment designed to complement your regular Metrin ritual by pairing accelerated exfoliation with the hydration and recovery care that follows.
The easiest way to remember it is:
AP1 Radiance Renewal Serum — Renew
AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum — Recover
Together — Reveal
Or, more simply:
AP1 renews through exfoliation. AP2 supports renewal through replenishment.
That distinction is at the heart of how APS should be used.
Why APS Is a Two-Step Treatment
It is tempting to think of exfoliation as the whole story.
Remove accumulated surface cells, reveal fresher-looking skin, and you're done.
But a thoughtful renewal routine also considers what your skin needs afterward.
Following accelerated exfoliation, skin benefits from hydration, soothing, conditioning, and barrier-supporting care.
That is why APS contains two products with two deliberately different jobs.
AP1 Radiance Renewal Serum — Renew
AP1 Radiance Renewal Serum is a periodic nighttime exfoliating treatment formulated with 10% glycolic acid.
Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid, or AHA, widely used to help loosen and remove accumulated surface cells. Research has shown that topical AHAs can help improve the appearance of roughness, uneven-looking tone, discoloration, and other visible signs associated with photodamaged skin.[1][2][3]
AP1 is designed to help address the appearance of:
-
Dullness
-
Rough texture
-
Uneven-looking tone
-
Visible dark spots
-
Post-blemish marks
-
Congestion
-
Loss of radiance
It can be applied over the face or selectively to areas where additional exfoliation is desired.
But effectiveness isn't simply a matter of using more acid or exfoliating more often.
Formulation, frequency, and—most importantly—your skin's tolerance all matter.
AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum — Recover
AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum does not exfoliate.
Instead, it takes a multi-ingredient approach to hydration and recovery with humectants, emollients, soothing ingredients, niacinamide, Vitamin E, and botanical conditioning ingredients that help hydrate, soothe, condition, and support the skin barrier.
Its role is complementary to AP1:
AP1 renews through exfoliation. AP2 supports renewal through replenishment.
This is an important way to think about accelerated skincare.
Renewal isn't only about what you remove.
It is also about how thoughtfully you care for your skin afterward.
How to Add APS to Your Metrin Routine
APS fits around your regular Metrin Skincare System rather than replacing it.
At Night: Renew With AP1
Begin by thoroughly cleansing your skin.
If you use the Metrin Skincare System, complete your regular cleansing sequence and allow your skin to dry.
Then apply a thin layer of AP1 Radiance Renewal Serum to the areas you want to treat.
Leave AP1 on overnight.
Use AP1 1–3 nights per week according to your skin's tolerance.
If glycolic acid is new to you, begin gradually. There is no reason to rush toward three nights per week simply because the directions allow it.
More frequent exfoliation does not necessarily mean better results.
Let your skin's response guide the frequency.
The Following Morning: Recover With AP2
The next morning, thoroughly cleanse AP1 away.
For Metrin users, the complete Metrin cleansing sequence is preferred.
Then apply a light layer of AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum to clean skin.
Allow it to absorb before continuing with the appropriate remaining steps of your regular Metrin Skincare System.
This completes the APS treatment cycle:
Renew at night. Recover the following morning. Then return to your regular Metrin rhythm.
What Might an APS Week Look Like?
There is no need to turn this into a complicated calendar.
For someone using APS twice per week, for example:
Monday Night
Cleanse → AP1 Radiance Renewal Serum → leave overnight
Tuesday Morning
Cleanse → AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum → continue regular Metrin routine
Tuesday and Wednesday
Regular Metrin Skincare System
Thursday Night
Cleanse → AP1 Radiance Renewal Serum → leave overnight
Friday Morning
Cleanse → AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum → continue regular Metrin routine
Then continue your normal routine.
Another person may find that once a week is exactly what her skin needs.
AP1 is intended for use 1–3 nights weekly according to tolerance—not three times weekly as a goal to be achieved.
AP2 Can Also Be Used Without AP1
One of the useful distinctions within APS is that AP2 also has a role beyond the morning following exfoliation.
AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum may be used independently whenever additional hydration and conditioning are desired.
It can be applied after your regular Metrin Skincare System, morning or evening, to the face, neck, or targeted areas as needed.
That makes the two APS products complementary—but not interchangeable.
AP1 provides accelerated exfoliation.
AP2 provides hydration, replenishment, and recovery support without adding more exfoliation.
When accelerated treatment is the goal, however, the complete Accelerated Performance System is the recommended starting point.
Why “More Exfoliation” Isn't the Goal
Skincare culture has a habit of turning effective ingredients into competitions.
Higher percentages. More frequent application. More steps.
But skin doesn't always benefit from more.
With glycolic acid, temporary tingling can occur. If significant or persistent redness, burning, swelling, excessive peeling, or discomfort develops, reduce or discontinue use.
The aim is not to see how aggressively you can exfoliate.
It is to find the level of periodic exfoliation that supports the appearance of your skin without losing sight of hydration, comfort, and barrier care.
That is what makes the AP1 + AP2 approach so important.
Real Results, Real Routine
Metrin customer Barbara D. described both the results and a realistic frequency of use:
“My skin seems so smooth and even textured. I use it 2 to 3 times a week and have seen great results.”— Barbara D.
Her experience captures something worth remembering.
APS doesn't need to become an everyday treatment to become a useful part of your skincare routine.
Don't Forget Sun Protection
Because AP1 contains an alpha hydroxy acid, sun protection deserves particular attention.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration advises that AHA-containing products can increase skin sensitivity to the sun and recommends using sunscreen, protective clothing, and limiting sun exposure while using AHA products and for one week afterward.[4]
So while using AP1:
-
Use an appropriate broad-spectrum sunscreen.
-
Seek shade when practical.
-
Consider protective clothing and hats.
-
Be thoughtful about prolonged sun exposure.
Renewal and protection should work together.
APS and Skin Longevity
The larger lesson behind APS is not about chasing faster and faster results.
It is about understanding that different moments call for different kinds of care.
Your regular Metrin Skincare System provides the consistent daily foundation.
APS provides periodic accelerated treatment when your skin needs more.
And within APS itself, each product has a defined role:
AP1 Radiance Renewal Serum — Renew
10% glycolic acid accelerated exfoliation helps remove accumulated surface cells.
AP2 Barrier Recovery Serum — Recover
Hydration, soothing, conditioning, and barrier-supporting care help replenish skin afterward.
Together — Reveal
Smoother, brighter, more even-looking, visibly radiant skin.
Two different jobs. One complete treatment.
That is a more balanced way to think about renewal over time—and a natural fit with the larger idea of Skin Longevity.
