Metrin Story: Erin

From Worrying About Her Skin to Feeling Confident in It

If you have ever wondered what your skin was going to do next, Erin R. knows the feeling.

When she was little, Erin remembers her father pinching her cheeks or rubbing his whiskers against them and commenting on how soft her skin was. It reminded him of her Oma — her grandmother.

Even in her 90s, her Oma had skin Erin remembered as soft, smooth and remarkably youthful.

For Erin, beautiful skin became part of what natural beauty looked like.

Then adolescence arrived.

Redness. Breakouts. Oiliness. Unexpected rashes. Skin that seemed capable of reacting to almost anything.

As soon as one blemish disappeared, another seemed to arrive.

“My perception of my own beauty — and my self-confidence — were decidedly diminished.”

Erin thought it would pass.

It didn't.

By 27, she had been dealing with her skin for more than a decade.

“In the 12 years that my skin was the number one enemy of my confidence, I made a lot of attempts to find a resolution.”

Erin, around the time she discovered Metrin, circa 2011.

Looking for Balance

First came a prescription for acne.

Then migraine headaches forced her to stop taking it.

Cleansing wipes and gels came next. They dried her skin, leaving flaky red patches, while doing little for the breakouts and oiliness.

Eventually Erin found a cleanser that removed the oil without causing another reaction. It didn't clear her breakouts or give her the complexion she wanted, but after everything else she had tried, she stayed with it.

Mineral powder covered what she wanted to cover. An acne solution helped somewhat after blemishes appeared.

And gradually, her expectations changed.

“I sort of gave up on the idea that I would ever really love my skin — but I still wished I could have it.”

She remembers watching Lost and studying Evangeline Lilly's complexion, imagining what it would be like to have skin like that.

For the time being, imagining it was about as close as Erin expected to get.

A Discovery

At 27, Erin was out of graduate school and looking for work.

She spent hours on her laptop searching job boards and sending applications — with the inevitable detours into online shopping and whatever else caught her attention.

One of those detours led her to Metrin.

Her first reaction was skepticism.

The website wasn't particularly polished. But the customer stories caught her attention.

The photographs looked like photographs real people had actually sent in.

The stories sounded believable.

There was a guarantee.

So Erin kept reading.

The more she learned about the Metrin Skincare System, the more it began to make sense to her.

She decided to try it.

Her skin reacted almost immediately.

Small bumps appeared — almost like a rash.

Erin hesitated.

After years of products creating one problem while attempting to solve another, this was familiar territory.

But this time she continued.

She followed the steps carefully and gave her skin time.

“Even though it hadn’t suddenly corrected my skincare problems in a week, something was changing.”

Her skin felt better.

Healthier.

Some areas were still breaking out, but overall something was moving in the right direction.

So Erin kept going.

Morning after morning.

Evening after evening.

When the Worry Began to Fade

About six months later, Erin noticed something.

Not a dramatic overnight change.

Something quieter.

“I can remember that at about six months in, I realized I wasn’t really worried about my skin anymore.”

Her skin wasn't yet, as Erin put it, “perfect and totally reliable.”

But it had improved enough that it was no longer on her mind.

No more wondering constantly what would appear next.

No more weighing one product against another.

No more waking up expecting another problem to solve.

Skin that had demanded her attention for twelve years was beginning to recede into the background of her life.

And then something else happened.

When Skin Became Something She Loved

Erin cannot remember exactly when it changed.

There was no particular morning. No finish line.

“I don't remember when my skin became something I loved about myself.”

Somewhere along the way, what she once thought might never happen simply became ordinary.

“It just seamlessly became part of my life that I had beautiful skin.”

The girl who had once associated beautiful skin with her father’s memories of her Oma now had a very different relationship with the face she saw in the mirror.

Something that had once diminished her confidence had become something she loved about herself.

By then, Erin was writing, recording and performing music and had produced a CD.

Onstage, there were songs to sing, an audience in front of her and a life to live.

Her skin no longer needed to be the story.

From Distress to Care

By the time Erin wrote about her experience at 31, Metrin had been part of her daily life for years.

The longer she continued with the System, the smaller her old skin concerns became.

“My skin has looked better and felt better with every year that has passed since I found this program.”

Years earlier, skincare had meant reacting.

Something appeared; she tried to make it go away.

One treatment didn't work; she tried another.

One problem improved; another appeared.

Now the rhythm was different.

Morning.

Evening.

The same familiar steps.

There was less to figure out.

Less to manage.

Less to worry about.

More simply to care for.

A Familiar Beginning

Long before Erin ever encountered Metrin, another experience with problem skin had started a search of its own.

Dr. George Runnels wanted a better way to care for his difficult skin. That search eventually helped lead to the development of the Metrin Skincare System in 1932.

Decades later, Erin came to Metrin carrying her own twelve years of trial and error.

She wasn't looking for a philosophy.

She wanted her skin to get better.

And slowly, through the ordinary repetition of caring for it every day, it did.

Confidence, Over Time

Life continued.

Music.

Creative work.

New chapters.

And, more recently, motherhood.

Erin with her first child, around 2024.

Years earlier, Erin had called her skin the “number one enemy” of her confidence.

Then came the day she realized:

“I wasn’t really worried about my skin anymore.”

And sometime after that:

“My skin became something I loved about myself.”

The worry didn't disappear all at once.

Neither did confidence suddenly arrive.

One receded as the other grew.

Until skin that had once occupied so much of Erin's thoughts simply became part of a life filled with other things.

From worrying about her skin...

to feeling confident in it.
