Yes. Many people with sensitive skin use the Metrin Skincare System successfully. However, skin that is sensitive, reactive, or already irritated may need more time to become comfortable with a complete routine. 

The best approach is to begin gently, introduce the products gradually, and let your skin’s response guide the pace. 

Before You Begin 

Sensitivity can have many causes. Your skin may be naturally sensitive, or it may be temporarily sensitized by: 

• over-cleansing or exfoliation; 

• strong active ingredients; 

• recent cosmetic treatments; 

• shaving or hair removal; 

• weather or environmental changes; 

• environmental allergens, including house dust mite allergens, in susceptible individuals; 

• a recent change in laundry detergent, fabric softener, bedding, or another product that comes into contact with the skin; 

• an existing skin condition. 

If sensitivity appears suddenly, consider anything that has recently changed or regularly comes into contact with your skin—not only your skin care products. Laundry products, pillowcases, bedding, household products, weather, and environmental allergens may irritate the skin or worsen symptoms in susceptible individuals. 

If your skin is currently inflamed, broken, sunburned, or experiencing a significant reaction, allow it to settle before beginning a new skin care routine. Consult a qualified health care professional if you are uncertain about what is causing the reaction. 

If you have a diagnosed skin condition, such as eczema or rosacea, follow the advice of your health care professional before changing your routine. 

Before using the full Metrin Skincare System, you may perform a small-area use test of each product, one at a time, following its directions. A small-area test may help identify an immediate sensitivity, but it cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur later. 

People with a history of cosmetic allergies or recurring unexplained rashes may wish to consult a dermatologist before introducing a new routine. 

Begin by using the morning routine once daily. 

Start with #1 Deep Cleanser 

Use a small amount of #1 Deep Cleanser with lukewarm water. Massage it gently over the skin without scrubbing, then rinse thoroughly. 

Follow with: 

• #3 Vita Conditioner 

• #4 Protective Lotion 

• #5 Enriched Vita Conditioner 

Use light, even applications. More product is not necessarily better, especially while your skin is becoming accustomed to the routine. 

Introduce #2 Lathering Cleanser Gradually 

#2 Lathering Cleanser completes Metrin’s double-cleansing process, but sensitive or sensitized skin may benefit from a slower introduction. 

Begin by using #2 Lathering Cleanser every second or third day. Apply it gently after rinsing #1 Deep Cleanser, then rinse it away very thoroughly with lukewarm water before continuing with #3 Vita Conditioner, #4 Protective Lotion, and #5 Enriched Vita Conditioner. 

As your skin becomes comfortable, gradually increase the use of #2 Lathering Cleanser until you can complete all five steps once daily. 

Do not rush this process. Some people can begin the complete routine immediately, while others need more time. 

Build Toward Morning and Evening Use 

Once your skin is comfortable with all five products once daily, gradually add the evening routine. 

The Metrin Skincare System is designed to be used twice daily—once in the morning and once at night. Sensitive skin may simply require a slower progression toward that complete routine. 

If discomfort returns after increasing the frequency, return to the last frequency at which your skin felt comfortable and allow it more time before trying again. 

Sensitivity, Irritation, and Allergy Are Not the Same 

Sensitive skin does not necessarily mean that you are allergic to a product or ingredient. 

Dryness, tightness, stinging, or redness may sometimes result from over-cleansing, using too much product, insufficient rinsing, friction, or introducing a new routine too quickly. This is irritation rather than an immune response. 

A true allergic reaction involves the immune system and is caused by sensitivity to a particular ingredient. Although Metrin receives exceptionally few reports of allergic reactions, it is possible for an individual to be allergic to an ingredient in any cosmetic product.

If Your Skin Feels Uncomfortable 

Your skin should not feel increasingly painful, intensely hot, or persistently irritated. Persistent stinging or burning should not be treated as something you must push through. 

If you notice mild dryness, tightness, or flaking—but no hives, swelling, blistering, or worsening rash: 

1. Confirm that #2 Lathering Cleanser is being rinsed away completely. 

2. Use lukewarm rather than hot water. 

3. Avoid washcloths, cleansing brushes, scrubs, and other forms of exfoliation. 

4. Reduce the amount of each product being used. 

5. Temporarily suspend #2 Lathering Cleanser and continue with #1 Deep Cleanser, #3 Vita Conditioner, #4 Protective Lotion, and #5 Enriched Vita Conditioner. 

Once your skin feels comfortable again, reintroduce #2 Lathering Cleanser gradually—beginning every second or third day—and increase its use only as your skin allows. 

If symptoms are pronounced, continue to worsen, or return each time a particular product is used, discontinue the suspected product and seek appropriate advice. 

Keep the Rest of Your Routine Simple 

While your skin is adjusting, avoid introducing several new products at the same time. 

Exfoliating acids, retinoids, scrubs, peels, acne treatments, fragranced products, and other potentially irritating formulas can make it difficult to determine what your skin is responding to. 

A simple, consistent routine makes it easier to observe how your skin responds to the Metrin Skincare System. 

When to Stop and Seek Advice 

Stop using the suspected product if you experience: 

• pronounced or persistent itching; 

• hives; 

• significant swelling; 

• blistering; 

• persistent burning or pain; 

• a rash that continues to spread or worsen; 

• irritation around the eyes; 

• symptoms that do not improve after the suspected product is discontinued. 

Seek advice from a qualified health care professional, particularly if the reaction is pronounced, persistent, or difficult to identify. 

Difficulty breathing or swallowing, dizziness, or swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat may indicate a serious allergic reaction. Seek emergency medical assistance immediately.
